To Dye for True Circularity

April 28, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

How to dye, coat and finish for expected quality and true circularity?

In our pursuit to develop circular products, the conversation usually centers around materials and fibers that can biodegrade or be separated for recyclability. Yet, often it is the dyes, coatings and finishings that have a heavier toll on the environment. Although improvements have been made in the past years, many chemicals used for these processes today are still harmful; for the environment, waterways, workers in production regions and even those that wear the garments. Whether they are designed to biodegrade or to be recycled at end of life, damaging chemicals should be avoided at every stage.

Join our panel discussion to learn more about innovations on textile dyeing, coating and finishing techniques developed for true circularity. Textile scientists, innovative pioneers, and product owners seeking better solutions will share their vision and speak about latest techniques and possibilities. In an open setting  we will address the following questions:

  • Which are the most exciting developments around eco-friendly textile dyeing, coating and finishing? And in how far do these technologies provide end-results similar to those provided by synthetic methods?
  • What should designers and sourcing managers pay attention to when designing for circularity (recyclability or biodegradability)?
  • What is the importance of regulation, certification and/or communication around material safety?

This panel discussions will be broadcasted live on Linked-in.
