Webinar – Let’s talk about Women in Fashion
April 1, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Free
To what extent is your organisation enabling women to flourish, and reaping the benefits of gender equality?
Studies around the world consistently find that companies that actively pursue gender equality benefit from, among others: higher productivity, greater creativity, more innovation and openness, enhanced reputation and higher profitability (5-20%). But what does gender equality mean in fashion? What is the current situation for the millions of women designing, making and selling the world’s clothes? And how do we take a holistic approach to supporting men and women equally throughout the value chain?
Released in January 2021, the Gender-Responsive Human Rights Due Diligence tool allows companies to look at their organisation and supply chain through a gender lens. Rather than focusing on one element, such as equal pay or sexual harassment, the tool provides a way to assess risks, define a policy and put in place effective tools and practices towards gender equality.
During a 30 minute presentation, Machteld Ooijens will share her knowledge and experience around the challenges women face in the fashion supply chain, and how the Gender-Responsive Human Rights Due Diligence tool can help shine a light on current practices and possible improvements. Using case studies, she will highlight how leading fashion companies are already benefitting from more gender equal policies.
We warmly welcome you to meet and connect with Machteld Ooijens, who, in collaboration with Plan International Netherlands, Terre des Hommes Netherlands and Defence for Children International, developed this tool that can be used by small to large organisations.
