Nomadnoos is the brand that will make you want to become a DIY knitter. Every handspun luxury yarn produced by Nomadnoos tells a story celebrating the principles of slow fashion and our connection to the land, animals, and people who play an integral role in the development of these high-quality yarns. The journey begins with nomadic farmers in Mongolia, where the most delicate fibers are selected from their mixed herds of goats, yaks, camels, and sartuul sheep.
By choosing only the finest fibers that do not negatively impact the rangelands, Nomadnoos supports the continued livelihood and traditional nomadic lifestyles of the herders. With the high demand for cashmere in recent years, the pastures have been profoundly affected as herders have increased their herds by as much as 66% having a detrimental environmental impact, a reduction in yarn quality leading to reduced incomes. Selected fibers are sent for washing and carding in a facility that has a water recycling unit. It is a group of highly skilled women in Kathmandu who hand-spin it into the beautiful yarn. It is then dyed using non-toxic dyes in a facility that recycles the water.
Nomadnoos reinvests a percentage of profits into projects that directly benefit the workers responsible for producing these exclusive yarns and their families. Coty Jeronimus is the founder of Nomadnoos. For many years she has been advising businesses and organisations on developing sustainable supply chains in the textile industry. It is through her travels and love of beautiful yarns that Coty began Nomadnoos to support the environment and an industry, whose existence has been threatened by fast fashion.
